Aam Aadmi Party: Gender laws and Mixed Veg Curry 13 September, 2016
So, we were sitting in a restaurant - a group of friends and then someone said, "What shall we order"? And then someone said, "Mixed Veg Curry" and then there were reactions.
"You should never order Mixed Veg Curry in hotels!"

"Why?"

"They put leftover vegetables (sometimes stale) and finish off their supplies to make Mixed Veg Curry."

And the conversation went on like that.

In a parallel development, India Inc. witnessed the rise of alternate politics in the form of "Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)" which had started with the agenda of cleansing politics from corruption and have in place a strong mechanism to punish the corrupt government officials and politicians who are often found swirling money off the public coffers for their personal gains taking advantage of the office.

As a social issue, corruption is a very old one and there's reasonable reason amongst people to support a political platform to address it and even then AAP was finding it tough to rise solely on corruption agenda. And hence, AAP resorted to feminism and played the gender card.

In the aftermath of December 2012 incident of Delhi gang rape, Kejriwal saw opportunity and indulged in spreading widespread hatred about men in the society. He also promised that if voted to power, he will hang the rapists in 10 days. Media and society made him instant hero with such tall promises and Kejriwal became a name to reckon with and AAP had become a firebrand role model of alternate politics. That was 2012.

Flash-forward to 2016 and below is the condition of our revered platform of alternate politics:

1. Ex-Law Minister of AAP, Somnath Bharti was accused of Domestic Violence by his wife and that he influenced his pet dog to attack her.

2. AAP Minister for Women & Child Development caught in a sex scandal and subsequently a rape complaint was filed against him as the woman withdrew her consent.

3. AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan was booked by his brother-in-law's wife alleging that he forced her to sleep with him and was booked under sections 509 (Indecent behavior with a woman), 354 (Molestation of a woman) & 498A (Dowry harassment).

While there are many other AAP MLAs and ministers facing various charges of corruption, vandalism and assault, the above three stand apart because AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal had gained a lot of popularity by resorting to misandry (male hatred) and today, his own men are facing serious cases under various gender laws.

It is pertinent to note that most of the AAP MLAs and ministers were common citizens prior to joining AAP and the argument of Kejriwal was that it's only the politicians who are corrupt and not the common citizens. Then, why is it that today that most of his men are facing various criminal charges including corruption, assault and gender laws?

Why are the AAP people now facing a tarnished image? Is it because they are really corrupt or is it a systemic onslaught on them because they dared to challenge the existing power systems; remains a debatable topic, but the gender cases on AAP ministers are surely debatable, much as the same way, they are debatable when a common man is trapped in the gender laws, but as far as corruption and assault cases are concerned, enough evidence has surfaced about AAP members being directly involved in it.

And since I vouch for men's rights and one of my pet peeves is that men are easy targets of false accusations of harassing a woman, be it dowry, rape or molestation, I ought to be sympathetic towards the 3 men - Somnath Bharti, Sandeep Kumar and Amanutallah Khan, but I am not.

And that's got nothing to do with the fact whether their cases are true or false. The reason I am apathetic towards them is, because the condemnation that they are facing owing to the cases and the harm that has been caused to their political career and the beating that Kejriwal's and AAP's image has taken place due to these cases, serves them right.

It's the price they all are paying now for engaging in spreading male hatred, endangering the lives of millions of men with their false propaganda and using the same to catapult their political careers. The message is loud and clear - if you work against men, you will not succeed.

Today, we see that in Delhi, men are paying huge maintenances, they are being extorted during bail proceedings and are being forced to pay huge amount of money (Running in millions) to their wives during bail proceedings of dowry cases.

Also, the famous CAW - Crime Against Women - cells of Delhi are used like sleeper cells of legal terrorism against men wherein men are routinely threatened, abused and sometimes beaten also so that they can be coaxed or coerced into unfavorable settlements in marital disputes.

The scales of justice are compensating now. And the message is not only to Arvind Kejriwal and AAP, but through their example, the message is to society at large - if you indulge in male bashing, you are moving back in times. Still, if the society does not get the message, little can be done.

And this message is for men too.

1. Do not judge fellow men,

2. Do not humiliate them just to show that you are a cool dude and

3. Give space to a man when he is talking about his troubles and issues.

Just like corruption, bias against men needs to be weeded out from grass root levels. Do not fall for tall promises of hanging a rapist within 10 days, etc. otherwise, we will end up with Mixed Veg Curries like AAP in the name of alternate politics wherein the leftovers of mainstream politics will form a team and perpetuate more harm to the society.
