Blue Whale Challenge addict from Jodhpur attempts suicide once again: A constructed case story for analysis
She is 17-years-old girl who hails from Jodhpur and belongs to a middle class family. The family had given her a smart phone for safety purposes which remains linked to the school work through hand-held learning and doing project work by accessing internet.

One day a friend of hers introduced her to the daring and dangerous game of Blue Whale Challenge. She found it interesting and got trapped into it through the dares it offered. Teenagers like challenges but they have never been trained into rational decision making skill.

After taking up 49 dares successfully, the final dare was to commit suicide or else her mother will be harmed. She took out her scooter late at night and drove around the local lake for some time. Then, she leaped into the lake. However, a policeman on duty saved her life.

The police found a blue whale shape carved into her arm with a sharp cutting tool. Her parents were informed and she was admitted in the hospital. She recovered and was counselled by parents and well wishers.

She was shifted to her home but the dare kept on haunting her mind. Her brain had got hardwired with the final dare. She consumed sleeping pills at home and has been rushed to the hospital. Once again medical care and counselling has started but it seems her mind has bracketed itself from rest of the things. He mind is gripped with the thought 'my mother will die if I do not do it'.

Meanwhile, the district administration and state High Court has given directives to all schools to go for counselling sessions.

However, psychologists say the 'root cause analysis' exercises should be undertaken and the incidents must lead to school reforms and changes in up-bringing practices.
