Donald Trump issues new travel ban expanding list to eight countries including North Korea and Venezuela
With the controversy over the previous travel ban refusing to settle, President of the United States Donald Trump has expanded the list of countries from which travellers will not be allowed onto the American land.

Earlier, Donald Trip had banned citizens of six Muslim countries to travel to the United States through an executive order. But as that order comes close to an expiry, a new list has been formed. This new list includes Syria, Chad, Somalia, Yemen, Iran, Venezuela, Libya and North Korea. It has also been reported that these countries were added to the list for not doing enough to prevent terrorism.

The new travel ban will come into effect from 18th of October and no more American visas will be issued to citizens of these countries.

While Donald Trump has claimed that actions like travel ban are being taken to "protect the safety and security of the American people", his order might face massive criticism as it did last time he imposed a travel ban.

"My highest obligation is to ensure the safety and security of the American people, and in issuing this new travel order, I am fulfilling that sacred obligation," Trump said in a statement.

Trump wrote on Twitter saying, "Making America Safe is my number one priority. We will not admit those into our country we cannot safely vet."

Many have criticised the order already and even claimed that keeping countries such as Venezuela and North Korea is merely a symbolic step so that the orders cannot be challenged on the grounds that the ban is for the people of a specific community. What adds to this fact is that North Korea doesn't see many travellers to the United States (Around 100 last year) and the ban on Venezuela is only for the government officials.
