Former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit passes away at 81, rich tributes paid cutting across party lines
The news of the death of former CM of Delhi and senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit at 81 was shared widely on social media and rich tributes paid to her. She passed away at 3.55 pm at Fortis Escorts Heat Institute after suffering a cardiac arrest, stated the hospital management.

She served as the CM of Delhi for 15 years from 1998-2013. She was also elected as an MP from Kannauj in 1984 and was inducted as Union Minister. She also served as the Governor of Kerala state. However, she had lost in the recent Lok Sabha elections from the North-East Delhi constituency.

She was remembered by people as affable person, able administrator and respectable politician on the social media. Dikshit carried out massive infrastructure development of Delhi during her tenure.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while condoling her demise, in his released message said, "Deeply saddened by the demise of Sheila Dikshit Ji. Blessed with a warm and affable personality, she made a noteworthy contribution to Delhi's development. Condolences to her family and supporters. Om Shanti."

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi felt devastated by her demise and remembered her as the CM who selflessly served people for three terms. Former PM Dr Manmohan Singh said the country has lost a dedicated Congress leader of the masses.
