India celebrates 73rd Independence Day with great patriotic fervour
Amidst rising India-Pak tension due to revocation of Article 370 and recent development in Jammu and Kashmir as well as Laddakh, 73rd Independence Day with patriotic spirit all over the country.

It has been reported that Independence Day celebrated at Attari-Wagah border with great enthusiasm but this time there was no exchange of sweets at the boarder post with.

Prior to the customary celebration, in a tweet, West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee stated, "We must always strive for political freedom, economic freedom, freedom of expression and preserve democratic rights. When these are not given, we should organise peaceful movements to preserve these rights."

Yet in another tweet, she conveyed, "Let us take an oath today, not to divide India. We must unite India. Irrespective of caste or creed, we are all one India. Secularism is what identifies and unites us as a nation."

My Facebook friend from Rupa Valley in Arunachal Pradesh reported that this time the patriotic fervour was at its peak for the celebrations along with sending photographs.

In Jaipur, in schools and higher education  institutions, the celebrations were upbeat with singing and dancing. The special schools such as Disha also put up dances and a play to celebrate the Independence Day.
