Jaipur celebrates International Women's Day with variety of events
International Women's Day was observed at various institutions and organizations in Jaipur by social groups, women's rights activists and NGOs with awareness runs, painting competitions, quiz competitions, cultural functions, book releases and special talks.

In an event held at 'Disha ? a Centre for Multiple Disabilities', in Jaipur, along with some fun activities and wishes, the female staff was felicitated by the male staff. Addressing the staff, Rainu Singh, the executive director of the institution dedicated to differently abled children, said that we needed to take some time to celebrate the contribution of female staff that were at par with their male colleagues and made noteworthy contribution to the cause of care and support to differently abled children with patience and dedication. She also recited a poem by Gulzar on mother.  She was of the view that women must find more time and space for themselves instead of getting into conflicts on small issues. She quoted the saying of a successful women thus, "The day I gave up on small fights is the day is the day I started becoming successful. Some fights are not worth your time. Choose what you fight for wisely."

"There is need to feminize education by deemphasizing completion in situations and stressing cooperative learning  that is based on the precepts of treating the institution a community of learners who value caring and sharing. This will help students and teachers to de-construct the trenched social construction of gender roles and sex-stereotyping of knowledge," said Dr Lalit Kishore of Disha.

A state level function was also held to honour the women achievers of Rajasthan. Women passengers in the state transport enjoyed the fee ride on the day. Some automobile companies gave free vehicle servicing facility to the female drivers on this day.
