Roger Federer beats John Isner to enter the US Open quarter-finals
On Monday night Roger Federer beat John Isner 7-6, 7-6, 7-5 in the fourth round of the US Open. Federer continued his dominance in tie-breakers by sweeping Isner 7-0 in a tie break. Before this match, Isner had never been shut out in the 428 tie-breaks that he had contested so far.

Federer only loss to an American in the US Open had comes at the hands of Andre Agassi in 2001. Since then, he has been going great guns and has never lost to an American in the US Open.

With this win Roger Federer books a quarter-final seat for himself and will now face Richard Gasquet.

Federer hasn't won a major title since 2012, and this could probably be his best chance, as he is playing well and has managed to climb back to the no 2 spot.

The quarter-finals matches at the US Open men's are now decided:

Djokovic vs Lopez

Tsonga vs Cilic

Wawrinka vs Anderson

Gasquet vs Federer

The year has been an off for the Davis Cup, as none of the four semi-finalist countries, Great Britain, Australia, Belgium and Argentina have made it to the quarter-finals of the US Open.
