Roger Federer goes down to Novak Djokovic in the US Open final
Roger Federer lost to Novak Djokovic in the US Open men's final on Sunday. Djokovic clinched his 10th major and the third Grand Slam title of 2015. Federer who was being dubbed as the clear favourite lost by 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

It is now the second US Open title for Djokovic, who had earlier won in 2011. At a rain delayed match at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, the 28-year old world number one defeated the 34-year old Federer.

This comes as the third major victory for Djokovic in this year after earlier winning the Australian Open and the Wimbledon. Had Wawrinka not beaten him in the French Open final in June this year, the serb would have managed a more than perfect calender year in his career.

Djokovic now comes level with the likes of American Bill Tilden and just one shy of leveling Rod Laver.

Although Federer competed gallantly, what proved his undoing were his 54 unforced errors and his inability to convert 19 out to 23 break points.

The match was attended by celebrities like Sean Connery, David Beckham and Robert Redford. The match eventually started in the evening after a three hour delay due to rain.
