Senior Asian Wrestling Championships: Bajrang Punia strikes gold, PM Modi congratulates
Bajrang Punia brought elusive gold to India by winning the men's 65 kg wrestling final 6-2 against Seungchul Lee of South Korea in the Senior Asian Wrestling Championships on Saturday, May 13 at KD Jadhav Indoor stadium in New Delhi.

Bajrang came up from behind after having trailed 0-2 at the end of the first session of three minutes. In the second session, he picked up three points to be ahead after a minute and a half. He earned two more points as the referee warned the Korean. Further, before the hooter went, the Korean's protest was dismissed that brought another point for Bajrang.

Bajrang Punia, born on February 26, 1994, is a freestyle wrestler born in a Jat family, who began wrestling at the age of seven and was encouraged to pursue the sport by his father.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Bajrang Punia for securing the gold in Senior Asian Wrestling Championships.
