SpiceJet's Ajay Singh who gave the slogan 'Abki baar Modi sarkar' now holds majority stake in NDTV
Ajay Singh, the co-founder and chairman of Indian carrier SpiceJet, now controls a major stake in one of India's leading news channels – NDTV (New Delhi Television), as per a report of The Indian Express.

If the media report is to be believed, Singh, who played a key role in the BJP's political campaign during the general elections of 2014 and coined the slogan – "Abki baar Modi Sarkar", is all set to acquire around 40 per cent stake in NDTV.

Prannoy Lal Roy and his wife Radhika Roy, who are the news channel's founders, will hold only 20 per cent stake in the company, according to a source.

Prannoy Roy is the co-founder and executive co-chairperson of NDTV along with his wife Radhika Roy, who had jointly started India's first-ever 24-hour English news channel – NDTV 24x7.

When asked about the deal, the source told The Indian Express, "Yes, the deal has been finalised and Ajay Singh will take control of NDTV along with editorial rights."

However, on the other hand, a SpiceJet official has clearly denied about any such deal with the news channel, saying, "It's absolutely false and baseless." Messages and emails sent to NDTV officials did not elicit any response.

Earlier this year in June, the CBI had conducted the raids on the offices and homes of Prannoy Roy over allegations of defrauding a bank. According to sources, NDTV had failed to repay a loan amount of Rs 42 crore which was taken from ICICI Bank through its subsidiary RRPR Holdings Pvt Ltd.

Ajay Singh, who was the part of BJP's core advertising & campaigning team, had re-acquired the ownership of SpiceJet from Sun Group's Chairman Kalanithi Maran in 2015.
