UEFA Champions League: Atletico's comeback goes all in vain as Real Madrid reaches finals
Real Madrid continued to rub salt on their arch rival, Atletico Madrid's wounds as they inflicted a 4th Champions League elimination on them on Wednesday despite losing their semi-final second leg 2-1 but progressing to the final of 4-2 on aggregate.

Atletico Madrid stated off in a very determined and threatening mode and leaped onto a 2-goal lead in their second leg. Saul Niguez's header and Antoine Griezmann's penalty gave them a dominating two goal lead just in the span of 16 minutes. This gave a serious threat to the Madrid fans but Isco notched in the 42nd minute for them to seize their game calmly. They lost 2-1 on the night but proceeded to the finals on account of their aggregate score of 4-2.

The Portugese legend, Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick in the first leg proved to be an ultimate decider and Real Madrid will be looking forward to becoming the first side to defend the trophy in the Champions League era when they face Juventus in the final. The final of the Champion's League will be played in Cardiff on 3rd June.

The Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, said, "I am delighted to reach the finals." Zinedine Zidane further insisted that he will never tolerate any divided loyalties after leading his team to a 2nd consecutive Champions League final where they are to meet Juventus, his old club. Zidane had left Juventus back in 2001 to join Real Madrid at a world record fee at that time.

When asked how would it feel playing against his former club, Zidane replied "For sure it is special because it was a very important club for me as a player. It is a club that also gave me everything."

Zidane had, however, admitted that ahead of 16th December last draw that Juventus were the team he would want to avoid in accordance with his respect for Massimiliano Allegri's side. But, since it has come this way now, he said he can't do anything about it.
