'Updated' NCERT books to hit the markets from ensuing academic session
The 2007-editions of the textbooks of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) are being 'updated' after a 'systematic review' on the basis of decision of the MHRD and will become available from the next session.

The organization holds that their textbooks will have an edge over the private books both in terms of quality and price.

According to the NCERT director Hrushikesh Senapaty, the exercise was required to carry out the 'long-pending updates' hinting the inclusion of topics related to schemes like Clean India, Beti Bachao, GST, Northeast region, regional diversity, cultural diversity, national pride, child rights, child abuse, etc.

The present exercise is meant to 'plug the gaps' and update the current textbooks. In an interview to TOI, NCERT director has clarified, "Revision of books and curriculum framework is a policy decision which will be taken at the level of the HRD ministry, and it is a massive task. What we are doing right now is reviewing the books, which is to plug the gaps."

Besides, the textbooks, the NCERT also brings out supplementary books. The slant of such books is going to change drastically, it is believed.
