Lakhs of devotees visit Haridwar every year to take a holy dip in the river Ganga at Har-ki-Pauri. There are several major bathing days, which fall on auspicious days and festivals, such as Sivaratri, Amavasya and the Maha Kumbha day (the biggest day). Har-Ki-Pauri is the sacred site where Hindus from all over the world take holy dips in the Ganga , which, they believe, will free them from all sins. It is one of the seven sacred places in India where one can attain “Moksha”
