Paavo Nurmi, who known as one of the "Flying Finns," was a Finnish runner. He participated in three Olympic Games from 1920 to 1928 in Antwerp, Paris and Amsterdam. At that time he was known as the best middle and long distance runner in the world. In his Olympic career Paavo Nurmi won 12 Olympic medals including 9 Gold. In the Seventh Olympic in 1920 in Antwerp, Belgium, he won Gold in 10000 m, Individual cross country and cross country team event. In 1924 Paris Olympic, Paavo Nurmi won Gold in five events - 1500 m, 5000 m, individual cross country, 5000 m cross country team and 3000 m team. In the next Olympic in Amsterdam, he won Gold in 10000 m.
