Scene outside Gurgaon's Gurudwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha on Nanak's birthday
With thousands expected to throng this Gurudwara, which is more than 70 years old and considered the oldest in Gurgaon, the Gurudwara made arrangements for collecting and safe-keeping foot wear of visitors who had come to pray, and be part of Gurpurab, and the birthday celebrations of Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru. Gurpurab is celebrated for all the 10 Sikh Gurus, and apart from Sikhs, Hindus and some Sindhis also visit Gurudwaras. This year, to mark Gurpurab, Gurudwara Shri Guru Singh Sabh was decked in flowers, religious hymns were sung, the Holy Granth was read, and a langar was organized to celebrate the day.
