When India won the T20 World Cup Cricket Championship defeating arch rival Pakistan, India's coal minister Sri Prakash Jaiswal was seated in a Kavi Sammelan in Kanpur. When the news of India's victory came in and some of the members sought Jaiswal's permission to celebrate the occasion, he encouraged them saying victories must be celebrated fresh. Maybe to match up to the settings of Kavi Sammelan, he puts across his thoughts as "New victories and new weddings both have their own importance. As time passes, the joy of the victory fades, just like a wife becomes old and loses her charm as time passes." He later apologized for his sentence saying the media quoted him out of context.
