In 2014, Supreme Court banned bullfighting and bull racing. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) submitted a report in which they mentioned how racing terrified bulls who were deliberately disoriented, treated badly even stabbed, punched and dragged from its tail to the ground. The apex court passed a landmark judgment and abolished the involvement of bulls in 'Jallikattu' bull race, bullfighting and other types of performance. The judgment came after PETA launched a campaign against bulls involvement in such cruel events.
