Makhana, fox nut or Euryale Ferox is counted as one of nut and can be consumed during fasts. Its tree is generally found in Bihar and Loktak Lake, Manipur in India. Kheer, Sweet Mixture (Makhana, peanuts, grind sugar or jaggery, rock salt) are variety of dishes one can make it by using Makhana. For those who do not want to do much, they can shallow fry Makhana in Ghee and eat it whenever they find their stomach grumbling.
