Phuchka has many different names. Some call it 'paani puri', while for some it is 'goll gappa' and some also know it by the name of 'batase.' But, with the name, you will also find a bit of difference in taste of this mouth-watering food in different parts of the country. What sets it apart in Kolkata, is its lightness and the tamarind water. A pastry shell stuffed with mashed potatoes, with a variety of spice mix and dipped in salted tamarind water for a heavenly taste. It is an all time favourite snack for people with sour and spicy taste buds.
